VITALISM
Restoring Vitalism as the Western Science of Health and Healing

Recovering, developing, and advancing the Western tradition of Vitalism
Founded in 2026 by Joseph Dunkley, author of The Unified Laws of Vitalism, the Institute of Vitalism is a nonprofit foundation being established to recover, develop, and advance Vitalism as the Western tradition of health and healing grounded in natural law.
Its work brings the principles of Vitalism into the 21st century through the Unified Laws of Vitalism, scientific inquiry, education, scholarship, and the development of Applied Vitalism.
The Institute is presently in development.
The Western Science and Philosophy of the Life Force
Vitalism is Western civilization’s science and philosophy of the life force in living beings, the principle through which life, health, symptoms, what is called disease, and healing are understood as expressions of the lawful activity of nature. It studies the intelligence by which a living being organizes and maintains itself, grows and reproduces, adapts and defends, conserves and repairs, and governs degeneration and restoration, together with the conditions that build, diminish, and restore vitality.

The Natural-Law Foundation of the Field
The Seven Unified Laws of Vitalism are the foundational work of the Institute. They provide the natural-law framework through which life, vitality, symptoms, degeneration, healing, and restoration are studied and understood.
Research, historical recovery, scholarship, and discovery across the Institute's Seven Pillars are developed in relation to these Laws and contribute to the continuing development of Applied Vitalism.
The Architecture of the Institute
The Institute of Vitalism is organized around seven foundational domains through which Vitalism is studied, researched, developed, taught, and preserved. The work of the Pillars contributes research, discovery, historical recovery, and scholarship to the developing field of Applied Vitalism.

Vitalism in Practice
Applied Vitalism is the scientific and clinical application of the Seven Unified Laws of Vitalism. The Institute contributes to the field through research, education, scholarship, historical inquiry, scientific development, and the continuing study of the Laws and their implications for health and healing.
Research and discovery from the Institute are carried into the field through the Journal of the Institute of Vitalism and the International Society of Applied Vitalism, where practitioners, researchers, students, and health seekers can study, contribute, publish, and help develop Applied Vitalism.
The Field Community
The forthcoming International Society of Applied Vitalism will serve as the field community through which practitioners, researchers, students, and health seekers engage with the Institute’s research, scholarship, and discoveries and contribute to the continuing development of Applied Vitalism.
Members will be invited to contribute research, clinical observations, case studies, and other work, with opportunities for publication through the Journal of the Institute of Vitalism. Membership applications will be forthcoming.
The Institute is presently in development.
Future opportunities will include participation in research, scholarship, historical recovery, education, publication, institutional support, and the continuing development of the field. Those interested in the work of the Institute may follow its development through the Institute of Vitalism, the Journal of the Institute of Vitalism, the International Society of Applied Vitalism, and Valeo Therapeutics.
